HISTORICAL BEUATY STANDARDS: THEN & NOW
The images above show a pretty standard ideal that has always been a main measuring tool; a women's weight. In the past there were advertisements to help women gain weight and now a days we harass women for the slightest bit of fat on their bodies. Neither extreme is healthy and just continues the narrative that whatever body you are born with is not good enough and needs to change.

Enduring Beauty Standards
Over hundreds of years women's figures and 'beauty' has varied. While these ideals might have changed there have always been the same underlying standards. Being white or 'fair skinned' is one beauty standard that just hasn't gone away. This standard is so connected to the racist world and society we have all lived in it makes sense it still hasn't been pushed out the never aging beauty door. While women of color have been sold skin lightening cream and white women have been sold self tanner, the beauty in the skin tone still only goes to where you can still tell a person is "white." No advertisement selling self tanner is trying to make a woman look another race just a tan white lady.
